Seven Breaths

It is a breathing ritual.

A quiet constellation of fragments reaching toward each other across time, space, and memory.

Seven drawings were created in Aotearoa, each one dedicated to a direction — North, South, East, West, Above, Below, and Center.

Each drawing was then carefully cut into fragments and sent to galleries and cultural spaces around the world.

The project creates an invisible web between these places — a ritual gesture of connection through dispersion.

No original remains. Only traces in motion.

A Mycelial Atlas

From the land of Aotearoa,

I send seven breaths.

One to the North, where thought becomes voice.

One to the South, where silence becomes root.

One to the East, where light rises like memory.

One to the West, where shadows dissolve into form.

One to the Above, where spirit expands into stars.

One to the Below, where memory sleeps in bone.

One to the Center, where the gesture becomes presence.

This drawing is not an image.

It is a field.

A web of unseen threads.

I call the cities not by name,

but by rhythm:

the rhythm of pulse, of story, of wind.

New York — the vision.

Ushuaia — the ground.

Tokyo — the breath.

London — the passage.

Reykjavík — the sky.

Cuzco — the root.

Auckland — the body.

We do not know each other.

But we are already one body.

Like trees connected by mycelium,

we share a secret beneath the surface.

May these fragments awaken recognition.

May they find each other — or not.

It is not reunion that matters,

but the trust in dispersal.

The work is the gesture.

The gesture is the offering.

The offering is for the Earth.

If a fragment found you, or a gesture touched you, this is a space to respond.

Dear Mother,

the more I gently look at you, the more I feel cradled by the earth beneath my feet and embraced by the air of a cornerless sky.

As light settles to the surface and then falls deeply asleep, I find home within the smallest and most sensuous forms of minerals and shells.

The farther into the forest I go, the more I am enveloped, like a glove by the deep, teeming silence of creation.

Guided by the song of the earth, I move through landscapes of irrepressible beauty and disobedience. An instinctual, tribal dialogue unfolds between us, like the rhythm of a shared breath.

I welcome and greet your presence,

celebrating our mysterious bond.

Before the vast territory of the Pacific Ocean, which some call "the End of the World",

stretches a land that has grown within me for nine months.

From the volcanic lands of the North to the primeval rainforests of the West Coast,

from the icy peaks of the South to the shores of pristine lakes and blue lagoons, rest the daughters of pure springs.

passing through subterranean starry caves andreturning to the light in the mystical waters of the east.

Grounding in Stone

These stone foot sculptures embody the essence of grounding, connecting us to the earth's energy and the wisdom held within its ancient stones.

Each photo ties to a home, with titles drawn from its vowels, symbolizing memories.

It explores freedom, captivity, and the emotional resonance of space and silence.

In Universo, the visible and invisible intertwine in a dance of primordial elements—earth, water, light, song—that find poetic geography within photographic surfaces,

colored threads, and the transparencies of glass. A sense of wonder emerges, as though one could touch the heartbeat of the cosmos hidden within the dust of a childhood garden and the glow of a yet-to-be-named constellation.

It is a circular journey that begins in the shadow of what once was and ascends toward the stars,

stitching together traces of the past and generating new horizons of meaning. A pursuit of returning both matter—and ourselves—to the form of an intimate and universal song.
